Jacqueline Colson is the proud mother of Adrian and Darius. A longtime parent activist, Jacqueline has served as PTA President, School Leadership Team Member and is currently theNYCPU Queens Chapter Leader.Jacqueline has advocated for children and their parents who have been mistreated and disrespected by teachers and school administrators. Jacqueline is not afraid to take on the “powers that be” in her mission for educational justice and equity.
A firm believer in putting the interests of children first–before adults, Jacqueline joined the lawsuit against Governor Cuomo in 2013 when our school children were punished because Mayor Bloomberg and Michael Mulgrew, UFT President, refused to come to an agreement on teacher evaluations.
Jacqueline matches her education activism in her community as the Acting First Vice Chair of the National Congress of Black Women-Queens Chapter.
A supporter of school choice for parents, and a parent’s right to decide what school best fits their child, Jacqueline unequivocally believes every child should have equal access to a high-quality education. With her mantra of “Parent Power” Jacqueline will not stop fighting for New York’s school children.
